An ongoing interview series highlighting the wisdom, warmth, and joy from oldest and dearest loved ones, new friendships, and women I admire from near and far.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I listen and look to see if Lola is awake, and then I immediately go grab some coffee and some sourdough bread with or without a baby in tow.
How do you approach getting dressed?
Is it comfortable? Do I feel confident? Am I expressing myself?

What makes you confident?
What I am wearing, what the people I love think of me, and knowing my worth.
What did creativity look like in your youth? How does it show up in your life today?
Before I discovered photography, I definitely expressed my creativity through my wardrobe! This was before social media and the internet and I would scour magazines for inspo! I loved national geographic, vanity fair and vogue and would have a collage of inspiring images all over my room. No wonder I became a photographer.

What’s one small thing that brings you joy lately?
My daughter's laughter and watching her discover and learn new things. It brings me so much joy.
What do you consider to be an "heirloom"?
Something that has history and a story... I have a pair of 501s Levi jeans that my husband really tried to talk me out of because we had just got married and were tight on money. We were on our honeymoon in Idaho and I found them at a thrift store for $20. I finally convinced him and I've worn them probably at least once a week for the last 7 years! They now have holes in them and have been patched up so many times. The softest pants I own and they were worth every penny. I cannot wait to pass them down to my daughter. I hope she loves them like I do.

If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I want to say some fun color but according to my closet it would probably have to be white/cream/ivory, I am just so drawn to it!
